Ukraine Discusses Possible High-Level Talks with Russia to End War

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that Kyiv and US officials examined possible structures for future discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin focused on ending the ongoing war.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s lead negotiator Rustem Umerov updated him on recent discussions held with US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

“Importantly, America remains engaged in diplomacy and, in particular, has acted as a mediator on the issue of a prisoner exchange,” Zelenskyy said on US social media X.

He noted that communication between Kyiv and Washington continues “at the appropriate level” as both sides work on arrangements related to the prisoner swap process.

The Ukrainian president also revealed that Umerov briefed him on discussions with foreign partners interested in cooperation with Ukraine on drone production agreements.

He explained that close to 20 countries are currently participating in negotiations or related stages of cooperation. Four agreements have already been finalized, while preliminary contracts are being drafted.

“With other countries, preparatory procedures are underway for political arrangements that will open the way for businesses,” he said.
