Russia’s Nuclear Agency Calls for De-Escalation After Bushehr Strike

(MENAFN) Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom on Tuesday condemned a strike near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power facility and called for efforts to de-escalate tensions around the site, according to reports.

Aleksei Likhachev, head of Rosatom, said the company “categorically condemns” the attack and urged all parties involved in the conflict to take steps to reduce risks near the nuclear plant.

The statement noted that radiation levels at the Russian-built facility remain normal and that no staff members were harmed.

Earlier reports cited Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization saying that a projectile had struck an area near the Bushehr nuclear plant.
