India reveals Delhi blast was “heinous terror attack”
A cabinet resolution passed Wednesday under Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the attack was carried out by “anti-national forces.” The government denounced the incident as a “dastardly and cowardly act” and reaffirmed India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism in all its forms.
The cabinet has instructed security agencies to investigate the incident with “utmost urgency,” aiming to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators, their collaborators, and sponsors.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported India’s assessment, describing the blast as a deliberate terrorist act involving a car laden with highly explosive materials. He praised India’s handling of the investigation, saying officials have been “measured, cautious, and professional.” Rubio added that he had spoken with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and offered US assistance in the probe.
