Gaza government says fewer aid trucks entered than agreed under truce
(MENAFN) The Gaza Government Media Office said Tuesday that just 986 humanitarian aid trucks have entered the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire began, far below the total agreed upon in the truce deal.
According to the office, 6,600 trucks were expected to have arrived by Monday evening. The daily average has been only about 89 trucks, compared to the 600 promised per day under the agreement.
“This reflects the continuation of the Israeli occupation’s policy of suffocation, starvation, and humanitarian blackmail imposed on more than 2.4 million residents in Gaza,” the statement said.
Among the deliveries, 14 trucks carried cooking gas and 28 brought solar fuel for bakeries, hospitals, generators, and other essential facilities.
The Gaza authorities said these limited supplies fall drastically short of basic needs, emphasizing that the enclave requires “at least 600 aid trucks daily, including food, medical supplies, relief materials, operational fuel, and cooking gas, to secure the basic necessities of life with dignity.”
The ceasefire, which took effect on Oct. 10, is based on a phased plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. Its first stage involved the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, along with plans for Gaza’s reconstruction and the creation of a new governing body without Hamas.
Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed more than 68,200 people and injured over 170,200, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
