Trump Expresses Optimism After Meeting Syrian President

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he eagerly anticipates another meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who was recently welcomed at the White House.

"It was an Honor to spend time with Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, the new President of Syria ... I look forward to meeting and speaking again," Trump stated on his Truth Social platform following their nearly two-hour conversation earlier in the day.

According to Trump, the two leaders talked about "all the intricacies of peace in the Middle East, of which he is a major advocate."

He further emphasized, "Everyone is talking about the Great Miracle that is taking place in the Middle East. Having a stable and successful Syria is very important to all countries in the Region," highlighting the significance of Syrian stability for regional prosperity.

Al-Sharaa’s appearance marked the first time a Syrian head of state has visited the White House since the country attained its independence nearly eight decades ago.
